Ever since I was young, I have always heard amazing stories about acupuncture and oriental medicine, but learning about it was more of a passing-down from an old master to a student. Thus, it remained mystical for a while. I then grew up taking Nursing classes and graduated with a bachelor in Psychology from the University of Washington.
Another change in career led me to being a nursing assistant for a couple of years. When I was contemplating whether I should apply to medical school, I realized there was something missing: my approach to helping people did not feel holistic enough.
Being a fitness and nutrition enthusiast was not enough, as I was also having health problems of my own, especially with sleep, digestive system and food allergies. I thought I would have to live the rest of my life finding the perfect supplements, avoiding everything, and be dependent on medications. I then received acupuncture treatments, herb, and food therapy guidance, and most of my symptoms were gone within a month. Amazed and intrigued, I decided to switch careers and study acupuncture and oriental medicine at the American College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), and I have never looked back since. I felt I have found the perfectly natural, and safe solution to help more people: by using their own bodies' healing potential. We all have our own natural pain-killers, anti-depressants, anti-inflammatory substances, homeostasis-regulating hormones...we just need to access them, and acupuncture can help us do that.
Besides acupuncture, I am also an artist throughout my life. It has helped me to embrace acupuncture as a special form of art, which can compliment traditional techniques. Thank you for stopping by
